Last day outta Babylon

Time to say goodbye to Sweet Jamaica...
I spent my last day in paradise at Belmonts wonderful little white sand beach.

Bigga; a good friend of him did the nice artwork

From Peter to the Black River

I meet a german guy at Rebel Salute who recomended Belmont (the birth place of Peter Tosh) to me.
Having the same timetable we decided to travel together for our last couple days on Jamaica...

our guesthouse run be a Ras called Bigger
IMG_6769

Belmont is a very tiny, laid back village near Bluefields on the South Coast.
Very nice people there, you nearly know everyone on the street in 2days :)

IMG_6786

Being the most revolutionary member of The Wailers, Peter Toshs death seems to be linked to other political motivated incidents in music buisness (John Lennon assassin, shooting at Bob Marley shortly before a political concert, Buju Bantons actual trial)
The story of his mysterious dead is captured in the movie Stepping Razor - RedX.
When I asked his cousin, if the murder could be political motivated, he replied "could be!"...

(Rebel) Salute

When I walked with Richie trough Kingston we meet this old Rastafari and talked to him about me going to the festival.
"Rebel Salute, he replied, no Rebel anymore..."

Being at the festival for nearly 14hours I knew now what he was talking about; some impressions on the PEPSI Rebel Salute -some nice shows, much sponsoring, very little culture-:

Alligators & Fishermen

Today I head further east to get closer to Rebel Salute and arrived in a little Fishing Village called Alligators Pond.
No Alligators at all -and different stories where the village has its name from- but more later on.

The Souths sandy treasure

So far the North was not that exciting/way to much tourism influenced.
The South is supposed to be less touristic & the place to visit for an authentic Jamaica besides Kingston.
Surrounded by mountains & pretty hard to reach by public transport Treasure Beach, my first stop down here, is the most famous southern destination.

First: I found this in my guide...

...Queen Ifrica say-so!
Besides that, MoBay is widely known as the place in Jamaica, where all the carribean cruise ships used to make a stopover...
